My Perspective

Bob Wyatt's Approach
Wyatt Environmental Portland

A deep dive into a complex sediment Superfund site is sometimes more than just a figurative exercise.

My approach is to craft individualized project strategies that assure compliance, maximize cost recovery, and integrate technical, legal, policy, communications and political factors,

never forgetting client realities, such as prudency, disclosures, board of directors reporting, briefings for executives and elected officials, internal audits, and corporate image.

I believe a strategy that integrates financial, policy, technical, legal, regulatory, communication, and often political considerations is needed to successfully manage a complex multi-party Superfund site. This requires a sophisticated team of experts that all share the same strategic objectives (based on the client's goals) and who coordinate their activities appropriately. Once developed, implementing an integrated strategy requires active decision making, regular inter-team communications, and periodic course adjustments. The client also needs a resource that can explain these complex and often interwoven strategies in plain English so that they can make informed decisions.

I have extensive experience as both a client and a technical expert, and I have over fifteen years of experience as a multi-party sediment Superfund site program coordinator. This makes me uniquely qualified to help clients because I understand the language spoken on all sides of the table. I also understand that it is critical for corporate Executive Management to understand the impacts of these liabilities on things like disclosures, financial forecasting, accruals, accounting rules, SEC reporting, fiduciary responsibility, and corporate image.
